Summary/Abstract: The collection of the political and moral emblem works by Andrzej Maksymilian Fredro, Peristromata regum, included in the reflections “Scriptorum seu togae et belli notationum fragmenta” (1660), was regarded by Janusz Pelc as the most interesting emblem book of the Baroque in Poland. Despite this statement and his comments there is no in depth analysis of the works and thus there is no extensive literature dedicated to “Peristromata regum” that would show its importance. This article aspires to complete this gap, suggests some comments and encourages further research, yet by no means does it complete the analysis. The work by Fredro relates to the issues of the 17th century’s pragmatic governance dealt with in all his works and shows similarities to political work by Diego de Saavedra Fajardo.
