Summary/Abstract: First, English demostrative pronouns may have a deictic function, mentioning somethig for the first time. They may also be used anaphorically, referring to something mentioned before.‘That’ and ‘those’can also be used as determinative pronouns, being antecedents qualified by an attributive clause.‘Such’ may be classed with the demonstrative pronouns on account of its meaning and indicates kind or degree. In Romanian demonstrative pronouns substitute names of objects, making them distinct in their group through their spatial or temporal relation to the speaker or through a certain moment of the temporal axis. The Romanian demonstrative pronoun agreement with the substituted name is realized in gender, number and case.
