Summary/Abstract: Physical, psychological and sexual force are the most common forms of domestic violence. Spouses, partners in informal relationships, the elderly, people with disabilities and more often – children may be victims of domestic violence. According to the Constitution of the Republic of Poland, the institution of the family is under a special protection and care of the Polish Republic, therefore in order to increase the effectiveness of violence prevention in the family, on 29th July 2005 aprevention of domestic violence in the family bill was passed. The task of the stateis to protect the family from threats coming from outside and inside, especially from abuse from the loved ones. Very often the realization of the mentioned tasks comes down to making so-calledhome interventions by the police officers. Intervening in the environment of the family affected by the violence takes place in accordance with the „Blue Card” procedure and does not require the consent of the person affected by domestic violence. Datefrom the Municipal Police Headquarters in Lodz shows that the total number of home interventions in Lodz has been falling since 2014, nevertheless the percentageof established Blue Cards to the total number of interventions in 2016 is slightly higher than in 2015. Reducing the scale of domestic violence in Poland is a process that requires above all the commitment of all services, as well as changes in social consciousness. Nobody can remain indifferent to the manifestations of violence, especially used against the youngest ones - children. Early recognition of the symptomsof violence against the child, allows earlier detection and decreasing the risks, which in many cases may even save the life or health of the child.
