Christian Education and Family Functioning in Poland. Pedagogical Essay

Summary/Abstract: Education is essential in shaping human attudes. In Poland, Christian education is practiced in families, parishes and schools, and it is mainly inspired by theCatholic Church. The Church takes into account the diverse environments in which individuals and families live. Since the contemporary moral space of social reality is full of antinomy and axiological chaos, it has a great impact on the functioning of modern families. The Christian education aims at preparing a person for religious life at both individual and social levels. It guides individuals and communities towards realization of Christian values. Such education contributes to giving meaning to human lives and motivates to caring for a decent personal and social life. As a consequence, it affects interpersonal relationships, and thus the functioning of families. The Catholic Churchin Poland undertakes a wide range of educational activities aimed at the proper functioning of families.
