Summary/Abstract: International law influences European Union law in many ways and there is a strong link between them. The European Union is an international actor, it has an international law capacity and although it is sui generis in character it still contributes in the shaping of International law. But what is the case of the international human rights? Does the European Union as an international law actor cover all Universal human rights or only some? The European Convention on Human Rights is an international treaty and it represents the basic human rights and freedoms, and the EU Charter of fundamental rights is legally binding and has the status of primary EU law but are they both enough to cover and protect all universal human rights, or the EU still needs to work on achieving this goal.
