Summary/Abstract: The article examines the traditional Bulgarian ritual table which marks the permanent appropriation of the space of a settlement: the foundation of a new settlement, building a new house, the digging of a new well. It also looks at the ritual table in the process of taking vows. These tables are presented as ritual situations, in which food and nourishment play a central role.
