Summary/Abstract: The 2009 (Transilvanian International Film Festival) was under the sign of „slowing down” Perhaps knowingly, perhaps not, but in this year’s edition there was an overflow of slow-fl owing dramas, comedy's ending in absurd, where the viewer was left with a bitter aftertaste instead of leaving the theatre with laughter. This series was seldomly interrupted by„action movies”, which in most cases were ironic paraphrases of the bigger brothers known from Hollywood. Our author reviews a number of movies from this years TIFF (such as Ashes and blood, Chinese defense, etc.), passes through the international film-movement as well, and tries to conclude what mutations take place in the aesthetics of today’s ruling medium, given the economic and social crisis of today.
