Summary/Abstract: Autism is a developmental disorder, characterized mainly by difficulties in communication, social interaction and imagination, together with repetitive behaviour. A special interest in this area is required by the distinctive features of the disease, that generate specific problems for the children and their families, and also by the apparently increasing number of cases. The study presents the measures taken into consideration by the European Parliament, European Comission and Council of Europe and also some issues regarding the situation in Great Britain.
