Summary/Abstract: The article aims to investigate the current state of art in the field of user-centereddesign and user experience (UX) evaluation techniques. We analyzed the articles andthe used methods, and classified them according to their purpose and the appropriatephase of the web development life cycle (WDLC). Further analysis revealed that awarenessof importance and benefits of evaluating user experience among both scientists and practitionersdiffers according to the development cycle phase (planning, prototyping, building/developing, maintaining). The vast majority of papers concerned the development ormaintaining phase. Most methods applicable in the development phase are also suitablefor maintaining and optimizing interfaces. There is a scarcity of articles concerning pre-developmentphases. The role of evaluating UX as early as possible in creating user centeredcomputer systems is underestimated.
