Summary/Abstract: Confronted with multiple new dilemmas like the Brexit, the Ukrainian crisis, refugees’ inflow, nationalistic parties, the EU risks disintegration without appropriate reaction and reforms. Future of Europe is at stake. It depends on the confidence of the EU citizens, not only governments. Europe should not go back to the outdated nationalistic model. It ought to promote European identity in parallel with the national and local ones. These dilemmas have reignited debate on the adequate integration model to revive the EU while sorting out from the political and economic quagmire, avert disillusionment with the European Project among the EU elites and citizens, enhance its competitiveness and position on the global scene in the looming post-American world. European solidarity faces a heavy test. EU itself may be at the turning point. It will come outstrengthened – or weakened. So will the West as a result, and its values: democracy, human rights, free markets. Amid growing interdependence brought by globalization, the world needs security, joint solving of global problems, avoiding a destructive rivalry. A rejuvenated, solidary and united Europe is essential to maintain a balance on the global scene, contribute to peace and take care of its citizens.
