Summary/Abstract: Constructing a new city, a man subconsciously realizes the dream about heaven on earth. In this context the author examines the film «Komsomolsk» by Sergey Gerasimov (it tells about the construction of «The City of Youth», the Soviet outpost in the Far East). In the Bible, Heaven is compared with a town and a garden (in fact, they are antonymous images). This dualism can be traced in the urban concepts, and it is reflected in the analyzed movie. Also, a gender subtext is noticed in the scenario: the city was born because of the union (reunification) of men and women. The identification of these urban «myths» and «archetypes» allows seeing the creative method of the Soviet filmmaker in a new light.
