«The Cossacks of the Kuban»: personal histories

Summary/Abstract: A feature film “The Cossacks of the Kuban” as a phenomenon of art was created not only owing to the authors' particular searching in the sphere of the so called “cinema-language” (film-ballet, film-operetta), but it was also begotten by the social life and relationship between the film-makers (producer Ivan Pyryev, composer Isaak Dunayevsky and film director Grigori Aleksandrov). The facts of the kolkhoz life of that time was depicted through the prism of a traditional peasant wedding, which excludes this film from the socially oriented criticism.
