Summary/Abstract: The article, which includes the main theoretical and methodological approaches to explaining the concept of “gender”, is devoted to the analysis of the current gender specific features of Russian public policy and political participation. According to the authors, “gender” is not only a scientific category, but also a dynamic and transforming social construct. The authors try to show the role and significance of the gender factor in the public policy of postmodernity. The article shows the relationship between the development of civil society institutions and the parameters of citizens’ political participation in the gender dimension. The gender-dependent transformation of political behavior and electoral preferences in a postmodern situation is shown. Perspective directions of the analysis of political processes taking into account the gender factor are presented.
