Propaganda component of manipulative influence in the process of escalating interethnic communication (on the example of the legal Ukrainian periodicals of the Galicia district)

Summary/Abstract: In this paper propaganda as communicative activity is overviewed, focusing on fixing in mind or transforming certain aims, convictions, stereotypes of the target audience with information and manipulative methods, techniques with the aim to achieve these goals and objectives is overviewed. On the example of the Ukrainian periodicals, published in Galicia during the Nazi occupation, author describes the manipulative mechanisms of the influence on mass consciousness with the aim of escalation of interethnic conflict, especially the Polish-Ukrainian and Ukrainian-Jewish, which played a leading role in ethno-national policy of occupation authorities.
