Summary/Abstract: Beyond the military means to fulfill the political objectives, the ”Desert Storm” and ”Allied Force” operations represented the active confrontation of two forces: air vs. anti-aircraft. The interaction between them has led to major changes in approaching the war, laying the foundation of new doctrinal theories and redefining the military power into a new paradigm. The balance of power can only be maintained by a complete reaction of the assaulted system, mixing the whole range of the determined factors into a complex equation such as military conflict. Air defense plays an essential role, whose success depends on the final state of both parties. Once again, the Gulf and Balkans lessons convince us of the need to design an anti-aircraft fire system in order to promptly react against the air menace and which can also respond to the operational parameters of the future battlefield.
