Summary/Abstract: The paper is an analysis and interpretation of a short story by Witold Gombrowicz entitled Adventures (original title: Five minutes before falling asleep) from his first collection of short stories Recollections of Adolescence of 1933, which was included in the Bacacay collection after the war. The text is regarded as a record of a dream and therefore it is interpreted through S. Freud's The Interpretation of Dreams. From this perspective its meaning is clear: it is a story of the queer subject's unattainable dream of becoming a Great Polish Writer.
