Summary/Abstract: This article was intended to mini-review some of the mechanistic aspects of obesity and obesity-related metabolic disorders in schizophrenic patients, as well as the evidence re-garding the possible mechanisms involved in antipsychotic medication-associated weight gain and briefly discuss the relations between the schizophrenic pathology, overweight and obesity, while also identifying possible influencing factors in this complicated equation.
