Summary/Abstract: The article presents the directions of changes taking place in the flow of goods in the automotive industry between Poland and Germany. Studies show the degree of intra-industry trade of both countries in 1999–2016 by producer groups and its structure. The analysis has shown that the biggest degree of two-way trade concerns the production of car parts and accessories, trucks and passenger cars. Along with the growth of trade turnover, the largest share in 2016 was held by vertical intra-industry trade at the level of 72%, the horizontal intra-industry trade 25% and inter-industry trade at the level of only 3%. The over 94% dominance of intra-industry trade has not changed since 2008. The study used the Grubell, Lloyd index (1975) and the Fontagne Freudenberg (1997) methodology. The data comes from the Eurostat database at the lowest level of aggregation.
