Summary/Abstract: Recently a study written by Jean Decety and his colleagues has appeared, showing a negative correlation between „religionand childhood altruism”. The researchers’ interpretations of the results and the forcible causation of contact were a great causeof debate in both Hungarian and other nation’s press organs and social medias. Overall, thousands of emotionally chargedpro and contra commentaries were produced only in Hungarian social media. I argue that the correlation was misleading - orat least not justifi ed - with the neglect of many background factors - in the relationship between childhood religiosity andaltruism. Since the determination of the religiosity of children is also questionable, I will also look at the experiences, using newinstruments of religiosity measurements.
