Summary/Abstract: The high degree of a relationship between the Slavic languages raises the issue about the criteria by which they distinguish between them. Through different mechanisms of combinativeness and a lexicalsemantic distribution of the common vocabulary the common by its origin lexis has formed various Slavic languages. The collocations, or the syntagmatic organization of words, act as a sign of differentiality between the Slavic languages and they contain a number of specific features. In certain situations the characteristics of the collocation are linked with sociolinguistic processes of divergence of literary languages. The contemporary linguistic situation in South Slavic / Balkan Slavic area implement a certain revision of theoretical formulations and orientation to new methodological and applied perspectives.
