Summary/Abstract: The article presents aspects and variants of the concept medicalization and theories and discussions related to it as an approach to constructing a possible conceptual frame for analyzing the medical notions of abnormality. The main concept of abnormality is clarified as signifying pathological and pathologized conditions, which, by reason of their social unacceptability, are subject of normative formula of classification and disqualification. The emphasis of interpretation is put not on the scientific reflexions on biomedical categories and their inclusion into so called social science studies.
