Summary/Abstract: The paper is devoted to one of the most important language and methodological problems of the Slovak higher school morphology of the Russian language – to the conjugation of Russian verbs, their division based on productivity/non-productivity into classes, groups, and isolated verbs. The approach of Slovak Russianists in this area follows a rather rich tradition, which comes from the works of the most prominent Soviet, Russian, and Czechoslovak specialists. In this paper, an approach to dealing with the problem in today’s university environment has been considered. A list of preparatory manuals on the Russian language has been provided. A purely university approach to the division of verbs, as belonging to separate conjugations and division into classes, groups, etc. has been discussed. Slovak Russianists have their own tradition and methodology rising from A.V. Isachenko and G. Balazhs’ works, which have been considered as standard in Slovak Russian studies up to the current period.
