Summary/Abstract: The article analyses the influence of individual factors on the autonomy of adult people with hearing impairment. Social functioning of deaf people is conditioned by internal and external factors. The time of occurrence and degree of hearing impairment, rehabilitation, parents, school, work, starting a family, socio-economic situation and leisure activities have an impact on the attainment of individual goals in adulthood. It must be emphasized, that every person with hearing problems, even with severe hearing loss, has the right to fully participate in social life. The fact that a person has impaired hearing cannot result in his/her marginalization in society.
