Summary/Abstract: The occurrence of Diabetes mellitus of the first type is currently showing increasing incidence and prevalence in the pre-school and school age children. It significantly affects the biological, psychological and social dimensions of the child's quality of life. It also significantly affects the child's stay at school. There is no possibility for a parent to supervise the child's treatment. Pedagogues should therefore be informed about the child's health status and necessary measures such as insulin application, blood glucose measurement, dietary constraints, and specifics of physical activity. The main objective was to determine the level of awareness of pedagogues about Diabetes mellitus of the first type in children. Based on the results of the DM Disease Survey, we can confirm the need to increase the level of awareness of the issue in schools, thus increasing the sense of safety of children with DM and their parents during schooling and eliminating possible complications.
