Summary/Abstract: Although learning German is attractive and although German is one of the most widely spoken languages in the world, it has in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BaH) in the recent years come so far, that promotion activities at all levels need to be undertaken for German as a foreign language as counterweight to intensive lobbying work for Turkish language teaching in BaH. The most German learners are pupils. However, there are other opportunities to learn German starting from kindergarten, up to universities or in schools for foreign languages. In addition, there are numerous events organized by the BuH-based embassies of the Federal Republic of Germany, Austria and Switzerland, as well as the German governmental institutions such as the Goethe-Institut and the DAAD and also the local institutions, all of which contribute to present the richness and diverse opportunities of the German language. E.g. "German Days" in individual cities and regions, "German Film Week" nationwide, the program for training of multipliers "Learning to Teach German" etc.
