Summary/Abstract: This text deals with one aspect of persons who, at best, remain neglected, and at worst remain unnoticed by scientist and the others, interested in describing and explaining contemporary new religious movements. In this respect, I put in that category those who used to be completely engaged, the central members of a new religious movement, and who now function on the margins of the movement in question. It is claimed that such persons add another dimension to the discussion of religious defection policy, since they, in a way of their own, offer an alternative position and function for the discontent members of a new religious movement who are in unfavourable relations with the rest of the society. Moreover, by acting from the margins of the movement, these members contribute to the creation of a new dinamics in the internal structure and culture of the movement, as well as in its relations with the external social surrounding.
