Use of prefixes and suffixes as a means of intensification of meaning in youth language and female style

Summary/Abstract: The use of superlative prefixes and suffixes, apart from their fundamental function as indicators of the dimensions of the described object or the intensity of its features, can indicate the speakers’ approach towards the extralinguistic reality. The above-named morphological elements not only have their basic role, but can also be used in their secondary function: namely, they can transfer the emotions of the statement’s author. The linguistic data analyzed in the paper, based on Internet discussion forums, reflect the tendencies typical of the feminine style and of the youth language.
