Summary/Abstract: Construction with a preposition in the syntax studies of Albanian language has been researched within two headed noun group theory, which treats preposition as a functional element connecting two phrases. According to this concept, only a full meaning word or a phrase could be a grammatical unit in the structure of the sentence on independent semantically and structurally. Within this theoretical framework, prepositions are linguistic units that are semantically and functionally conditioned and as such cannot be the nucleus of the phrase. By observing prepositional phrase with structural methods suggests that prepositions are included in the category of words that can characterize the nature of constituents, based on the functional feature to determine the case to the elements that depend on it. Generative studies further advance the study of the prepositional category from the syntax and semantic point of view. Based on the generativist concept the word from the syntax viewpoint is analyzed as a set of features that determine the nature of the linguistic unit from the categorical point of view: as a functional and semantic category. As a part of this paper, based on the X-Bar theory, we intend to research the preposition phrases in Albanian language, by looking at them as a projection of lexical head, based on syntactic properties that characterize the nature of any constituents in the sentence structure.
