Summary/Abstract: Lexicography as the art of creating dictionaries has an important role in the history of studying and developing a language. In the rich tradition of Albanian lexicography, Shkodra is known as a center that has helped a little in the development of this field of knowledge. This legacy has started and developed at the very beginning as a bilingual lexicography to enrich with explanatory and glossary dictionaries of various types and kinds. This statement will summarize a history of the development of this direction together with some achievements in Shkodra. This tradition flourished into this city-center in the second half of the 19th century to come to a valuable asset especially during the first half of the 20th century with the compilation of the Latin-Albanian vocabulary (Giacomo Jungg Fialuur i voghel sccyp e ltinisct, Mledhun prei P. Jak Junkut t’ Scocniis Jezu n’ Sckoder t’ Sccypniis, 1895) and especially Italian-Albanian and vice versa “Fjaluer i Rii i shqypes” published by the Society "Bashkimi", Shkodër, 1908, Antonio Busetti “Vocabolario italiano-albanese”, Scutari: Tipografia dell'Immacolata, 1911; Fulvio Cordignano “Dizionario Italiano-Albanese” Shkodër: Shtypshkronja e Zojës s'Paperlyeme, 1939). They came as a necessity for teaching classic and modern language and often as an auxiliary to grammar or as an appendix. Among others, there were dictionaries of a different nature, such as the Fjalori onomastic developed by Nicholas Gazulli (published in part by the "Hylli i Dritës" magazine, No. 2, fruer 1939, v. XV, pp. 120-129 up to nr. 9-12, 1943, pp. 391-406 (letters AK), total 21 issues of the journal).Certainly during the training, we will be trying to answer some of the problems, such as: Does Shkodra continue to be such a center? What are the challenges of today? The post-90s publications of the Institute of Albanological Studies in Shkodra (Kolë Ashta "Historical Leksik" I-VI, Kolë Kamsi “Fjalor arberisht-shqip,, Shkodër, 2000) will be attended to, as well as some valuable publications of Franceskane Printing House (Bardhyl Demiraj, “Dictionarium latino-epiroticum”) for RD Franciscum Blanchum (Romæ 1635), Botime Françeskane, Shkodër 2008; Gezim Gurga: “Dittionario italiano-albanese”: 1702/ at Francesco Maria da Lecce (critical edition with introduction and Albanian word) Shkodër: Botime Françeskane, 2009.) etc.
