Summary/Abstract: This paper aims the treatment of ways of word formation according to stem and base formation. Traditionally, the ways of word formation in the Albanian Language, but also in other languages, are determined by the last element which is added to the actual stem, which is considered as such only if it has the capacities of a word-forming format. In principle, it is hardly applicable, because we do not always know which the last added element is or which is the stem that has been expanded or converted to gain a new word. Such difficulties are mostly found at the type of words formed with prefix and suffix derivation. While the identification of the last added element is almost impossible, we will use other parameters such as the context that the word is used, lowering the registry or the attitude of the speaker, as an aid in determining the type of word formation. Precisely taking into consideration these parameters is what makes this work exceed traditional grammar books, which classified the words, according to the ways of word formation, based on the analysis of ready-made models. The research is supported by a corpus of literary and non-literary texts, of different categories. And trying to overcome current treatments of ways of word formation, it aims to bring a new approach for the stem and base formation and types of word formation, in the Albanian Language, in general.
