The seize of India in 1858 by the United Kingdom means that Britain began to follow politics in this region. Turning its direction to Turkestan after being defeated in the Crimean War, Tsarist Russia came to face with England. There Kashgar, a buffer zone between these two states, had a considerable geopolitical importance. The aim of this study is, addressing briefly the history of Kashgar, to focus on the arrival of Sir George Macartney to the region, whom England send to Kashgar in 1890 as the first official agent just after the invasion of the region by China and his power struggle with the Russian consul, Nikolay Petrovsky in the region. Then it is mentioned his life with Lady Katherian Macartney, whom he brought to Kashgar in 1898.
