Summary/Abstract: It is not considered as a very realistic approach to expect the students of the Faculty of Theology to graduate with all the necessary skills that meet the requirements of various occupations that are the dominant fields of employment after religious education such as teaching and serving as an official in the Directorate of Religious Affairs. The issue of training teachers as professionals equipped with necessary qualifications is far more important today than in the past. In other words, it is essential how we constitute the efficient teacher training system for the needs of the contemporary world; this topic is also very closely connected to the regulations in Faculties of Theology. Teacher training methods are affected by the societies’ economical, cultural, political and social structures and contemporary developments as well as the principles that build up the education system and the level of development; it also changes and evolves constantly. In a system that changes continually, the role and responsibilities of teachers change as well, and are re-determined. For this purpose, Religious Culture and Ethics Course teachers’ capacity of learning and teaching is being analyzed in this article with the help of relevant studies. This capacity is being discussed within the context of what is and should be understood, today, from the concept of teacher, in general, and from “the capacity of teachers of this field” in particular. In the conclusion, the configuration of faculties of theology and general teacher training methods in terms of providing these capacities is being addressed and the amendments and recommendations that are considered necessary in line with these data are being proposed.
