Psychoanalytic Concept of the Old Man

Summary/Abstract: The article discusses ageing, old age and an old man from the perspective of psychoanalysisand transactional analysis as well as one more important element, Senior (S) or Elder (E), who willcomplement the Parent–Adult–Child trio (PAC), a newly proposed extension of Eric Berne’sstructural diagram of personality. The paper ends with a significant conclusion that psychoanalysishas shown to an elderly man unknown dimensions and mechanisms of his personality. It indicateshow to confront the ageing process and own fate.
