Summary/Abstract: The article shows the thoughts of catholic intelligentsia members of the USA — representatives of the trend “cultural conservatism” of 1970—1980 and analyses their influence on religious aspect of inner-political activ-ity of R. Reagan’s administration. The author pays special attention to the developed disagreement between cultural conservatives and the republican White House and asks the question about the degree of idea-independence of catholic intellectuals-traditionalists and conservative political class
