Summary/Abstract: Introduction: In the article we deal with the burnout of social workers from theoretical and practical point of view. We proceed from the premise that the increase in physical, psychological and emotional strain of social workers employed in the Offices of Labour, Social Affairs and Family leads to their burnout. Goal: The goal of the research was to investigate the occurrence and magnitude of the burnout of social workers that are working in the Offices of Labour, Social Affairs and Family in Slovak Republic. The occurrence of burnout of social workers was studied in relation to the lenght of professional experiences in particular divisions of the Offices of Labour, Social Affairs and Family in Slovak Republic. Methods and findings: The research method was the questionnaire of the burnout MBI. The research sample consisted of the 243 social workers that work in the Offices of Labour, Social Affairs and Family in Slovak Republic. The statistical analysis showed the increased occurrence of burnout in research sample. Conclusion: We suppose that the research and its conclusions will be valuable contribution to social work as a discipline.
