Summary/Abstract: Pavel Filonov is one of the ‘first wave-Russian avant-garde artists’ whose creativity is less known due to Soviet censorship. This article studies scientific research and artistic perspective of Pavel Filonov who was the founder of Russian analytical art and one of the leading actors of the Russian expressionism, primitivism, symbolism and cubo-futurism in the beginning of 20th century. As he was the founder of the ‘School of the Masters of Russian Analytical Art’ (1925-1932), Filonov researched the internal laws of artistic creativity and studied on the concept of ‘intellectual analysis’ which means the control over the creativity process. The stages of the intellectual analysis will be emphasized and the items from his declaration of the content of analytical art will be demonstrated in the article. His thoughts and works are briefly emphasized as well as the theories of analytical art he supported, censors and hardships he had faced throughout his life will also be discussed. Additionally, some visual materials in support of the subject matter are presented for the readers.
