Summary/Abstract: The article presents the personality and creativity of Prof. Ivan Aleksandrovich Bazanov - Professor of Roman Law at the universities of Tomsk (Russia) and Sofia. He has made a significant contribution to the teaching of Roman law in Bulgaria in the period 1920-1943 and was the author of one of the first textbooks of Roman law in Bulgarian in two volumes.
