Summary/Abstract: While Ottoman poets were developing their arts, they weren't indifferent to the geography that they lived in and they reflected some properties to their poetries that the sites had with various occasions. As a result of those usages, some types of poetry which mentioned cities such as such as şehrengiz, biladiyye, sahil-nâme occurred in the classical Turkish poetry. Another poetry type that geographical factors formed its subject is mesair that various gardens and recreation areas were narrated. As the various gardens and recreation areas which were in Istanbul were narrated in the poem that we have presently had two sample for it, it is possible to describe this type as a poetry type which is specific to Istanbul. Vahyî-zâde Şeyh Feyzullah Efendi who was one of poets in 18th century wrote the first known sample of mesair in the classical Turkish literature. The description of 54 recreation areas in Istanbul were done in the poetry which was written in the form of ode poetry and in 43 couplets. The second sample in the type that its existence has not been known up to now and also which forms our study's subject is mesair which was written by Hıfzî who was one of poets in 18th century. This poetry which has presently had a single copy and which has the title "Der-Beyân-ı Mesîregâh-ı Hümâyûn" has got 61 couplets and it was written in the form of quote-poetry. Differently from Feyzullah Efendi, Hıfzî made the description of recreation places and summer palaces in this poetry that those places were specific only for padishahs and were named as the private garden of the sultan. In this study, some information will be firstly given on the type of mesair which its samples are rarely seen in our literature and then, the text's translated form will be included as Hıfzî's Mesâir's form and content properties were based on.
