Summary/Abstract: Background: Health literacy plays a key role in health promotion as well as in the effective administration of health care. The growing awareness about this topic leads to the development of new tools and ways of their practical application. Core of work: The aim of this study is to present Osborne’s Health literacy questionnaire as an Essentials tool in the program Ophelia which is aimed to develop interventions in the effective management of chronic diseases. Conclusion: It is necessary to create appropriate measures increasing health literacy and thus contribute to improving the overall health of the population.
