Summary/Abstract: Introduction: Vaccination is one of the most important public health precautions to protect millions of people from infectious diseases. Content: In the second half of the 20th Century, most countries of the world adopted its national immunization program recommended by the WHO. The key legislation for compulsory vaccination in the Slovak republic consist of Act No 355/2007 Coll. on protection, promotion and development of public health and Public Notice of Ministry of Health in the Slovak republic No 585/2008 Coll. Conclusion: Despite some negative response targeted against vaccination and the result of our work highlights the importance of maintaining compulsory vaccination to the extent that we have.
