Summary/Abstract: Introduction: Alcohol in its form has always been a matter of opinions in many forms. It is generally understood as a threat to mental and physical health. The issue of alcoholism is quite extensive topic and touches many areas of personal, family and social life. In the elderly increases the risk of alcoholism especially when social support in the family fails and it is worth considering that older people suffer from alcoholism direct family. Aim: The contribution is aimed specifically at a group of seniors who have their own way of life isolated from normal social life, while pursuing the issue of alcoholism on the social side of man and gradual impact on human personality. It describes the meaning of aging in human life, defines the problematic situation in the life of the elderly. It also deals with the problem of alcoholism in our society and the phenomenon of co-dependency in the context of addiction. Findings: The meaning of family care, be it positive or negative sense, followed by significant social support will detect the degree of the need of alcohol and therefore the consequent risk of addiction in older people. Conclusion: The above factors are significantly changing their social world, Kinship, and of course the situation also affects the broader social structures, because if someone is an alcoholic is not very interested with the family to work together, it is ultimately the entire burden on the family high and uncomfortable. Contribution we wish to highlight the essential information about a given phenomenon not only professionals but also students and the general public.
