Summary/Abstract: In the introduction, the author describes the development of the town status of Šamorín (Somorja, Sommerein, Sancta Maria) and the resulting rights and obligations. By the end of the 16th century, Šamorín had definitely become a landowner town of the Pálffys'; however, the town refused to accept this. Even though Šamorín possessed wider competences in the economic, legal and administrative fields in comparison to other landowner towns, the landowners had a growing influence on town administration from the end of 16th to the first half of the 18th centuries.
