Summary/Abstract: Upon his return from Spain on September 13, 45 BC, Guy Julius Caesar made his will. In it he announces the adoption in familiam nomenque of Guy Octavian. Caesar died on March 15, 44 BC. At that date, Octavian does not yet know that he was named heir and was adopted by Caesar. When he was informed of Caesar's death, Octavian made a decision to accept the will and change the course of Roman history.
