Summary/Abstract: In Horace's poetry there are some verses about his relation to Augustus. Horace had the temerity to refuse Augustus' offer of a position as his personal secretary. Nevertheless, that does not seem to have cost the poet the emperor's favouritism. In this article are examined Horace's verses, which contain testimonies of his attitude towards Augustus' legislation about loose morals of the Romans.
