Summary/Abstract: The problem of study of this investigation corresponds the familiar companies ofthe industry of the footwear of the region of Leon Guanajuato and places close to him. Thesecompanies are considered strategic because of their impact on the state’s economy. Ofthese companies we will analyze their behavior regarding the relation that is generated between the founder and the successors, before and during the course of the succession. The objective of the study was to analyze the type of relationships established between the founder and his descendants, while carrying out the process of succession in the most representative footwear companies of Leon Guanajuato, Mexico. Documentary research methodology was used with an exploratory approach. Documents were reviewed from the city archives and the Guanajuato State Shoe Industry Chamber. There were 19 interviews with entrepreneurs of shoe factories and relatives. In this investigation we can conclude that the entrepreneurs in the footwear industry in Leon Guanajuato, follow unstructured processes,in the development of their companies and in succession between the different generations. This is due mainly to the culture that they have developed and to which they stick assomething that has worked and hope that it will continue in the future to be effective. This makes them a highly vulnerable sector.
