Summary/Abstract: Family firms may have unique perspectives of socially responsible behaviour due to family involvement. However, there is a lack of agreement in foreign literature about whether family firms are more or less socially responsible in comparison to their non- family counterparts. During the last few years Polish family business scholars have extensively studied how family firms make strategic decisions but subject of implementation of CSR idea has not been explored widely. This paper reports the results of an empirical study ofa sample 251 SMEs concerning community social responsibility. Our results indicate that family firms are not more likely to practice social responsible actions related to spatial environment than non family firms. The paper also suggests directions for future research in the context of community social responsibility of family businesses.
