Summary/Abstract: The Arab Spring, which began in Tunisia in 2010 and spread towards Egypt and Libya as a domino effect, affected Syria in 2011 and as a result a civil war occurred. PYD/YPG, which is the extension of terrorist organization of PKK, together with the civil war has become one of the main actors in the region. One of the reasons is that together with the United States, PKK/PYD has fought against the Islamic State (DAESH), demolishing its myth of not being defeated. From now on, the PYD militants have become the local ally of the United State in in Syria. The article anaiyzes the strategies that PYD followed during the civil war, its struggle against the Islamic State and its relations with the United States and Russia.
