Summary/Abstract: Change has become an inevitable phenomenon in today’s society, and as such it necessitates organizational and individual level adaptation. Change and its effects on psychological, mental and behavioral dimensions could lead individuals to have a negative hold on change and trigger resistance to change (RTC). An effective management of change processes and its outcomes requires RTC to be analyzed in detail. Although there are many studies on organizational change in the relevant literature, it is apparent that most studies largely focus on processes at the macro level and that analyses at the micro level are few in number. This study examines the effect of RTC on employees’ perceived stress with an individual level focus on RTC. For this purpose, a research is conducted on a sample of 115 academicians with different titles employed in public and private universities in Izmir province. The results of the study reveal that employees’ RTC levels affect their perceived stress. The study also shows that of the four subscales of RTC, the routine seeking subscale has the highest effect on the perceived stress.
