Summary/Abstract: The article attempts to present the concept of upbringing of the contemporary German philosopher Wolfgang Brezinka. Starting from the general characteristics of the concept of upbringing as a life help, there have been analysed successively the base of anthropological, ontological, axiological and teleological concept. Analysis of the proposals enabled to read concept of Brezinka as an valuable offer to prepare pupil for life in constatntly changing socio-cultural reality, as an opportunity for good and responsible life of pupil, both in individual and social dimension. It has paid attention to the usefulness of the concept of Brezinka for the development of the theory of education.
