Summary/Abstract: The aim of the article is to present the results of two independent research and implementation works performed in Małopolskie voivodeship, based on the example of legal solutions and methods used in the Federal Republic of Germany. Both projects involving Polish-German cooperation were focused on integrated development of rural areas (IDRA) and were aimed at evaluation whether the applied methodology could contribute to the improvement of rural development in the Republic of Poland. The first project was implemented with partner institutions from Thuringia in rural districts: Nieciecza and Czyżów (Żabno commune, Tarnów county) over the period 2011–2012. It concerned evaluations and recommendations for improving the working of administrations responsible for rural development on the regional scale. The second project was implemented in the years 2014–2015 in Strzelce Wielkie district (Szczurowa commune, brzeski county) with the support of partner institutions and experts from Bavaria. This project broadened the research carried out in Żabno commune and focused in particular on the involvement of the local community in a new integrated approach to rural development planning. As a result of the research, guidelines for new tasks related to agricultural-arrangement works in Poland were developed, in order to improve the socio-economic transformations taking place in rural areas.
